Work begins on Orphanage!

A mission team from Grace Point Church helped with the actual ground breaking for the first building of the Living Water Children's Home in March. The ground was dug and prepared for the footting to be poored. The walls are now going up on the first building which will be a dorm, made up of have three bedrooms, one bathroom, a small living room and a deck. The work is being managed by the Living Water Board of directors and board president René Laffite with oversite provided by missionary Teresa Devlin. The first dorm should accomodate six children and an adult. This will be the prototype for the future dorms. The second building will be a kitchen and dinning room. It is exciting to see the dream becoming a reality.

We are still raising funds for the construction and we build as we receive money. The Hondruans are raising money and those in the United States have pledged to at least match what they raise. We have raisded over $10,000 for construction but much more is needed. Please help out by giving to the Honduras Living Water Children's Home. A God Sized Task

God Sized Task
Four years ago God provided several individuals with a vision of an orphanage to house and transform homeless and parent less children. We dreamed of a home which could provide not just food and shelter but "living water" to children who had the misfortune of being without parents. We dreamed of a place where these boys and girls would learn about the grace of God and how to walk in that grace and extend it to their neighbors and beyond. We also dreamed of a place that would be able to transform a large number of children so that there would be a substantial impact on Honduras, a place where children would be given the vision and the ability to one day be world changers themselves.In the short time since the birth of God's vision, He has provided 17 beautiful acres of land in a perfect location just miles outside of La Ceiba. We now have electricity and water to the property and are ready to start building.Fund raising is underway for the buildings and ground breaking has already taken place. Would you consider helping with this God-sized task?

In the beginning..

In 1991 God invited Teresa to join Him sowing seeds in Honduras with the Garifuna people. Honduran visitors to San Antonio subsequently confirmed the calling by giving Teresa a Bible in the Garifuna language. In 1993 and 1994 Teresa participated in two mission trips to Honduras with her Sunday School class, and then for two years prepared herself and worked to build a financial base.

In 1997 Teresa arrived in Tegucigalpa, the Capital of Honduras, where she worked under the guidance of Reverend Larry Elliott, a missionary with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board. In 1998 she relocated to La Ceiba on the northern coast where her missionary endeavors have blossomed despite all odds.

The first sown seeds have grown into a Conservatory of Music (where Bible Studies are also held – one student now wanting to go to a seminary) for the children of the north coast. The music school is now recognized, and requested to perform, in a number of Central American countries. Take a look at the smiles on the faces of the students.

In 2005 more seeds started to break ground, literally, as Living Water Ranch Children’s Home was created. It now consists of 17 beautiful acres ready for further improvement. The land has been cleared, fenced, a new access road completed, running water, and electricity installed. Look at the pictures and dream of a visit. Obviously, at some point a medical facility/clinic will be needed. (Some contiguous acreage is available now if an interested party is found)
